Siber X Conference
What was the client asking from you when they first called you?
The client’s goal was to create a great impression for their attendees as this was their first conference. Because it was a “showcase” event, SiberX needed a reliable AV company that would help them build a vision for this event, and beyond. More importantly, Pure AV would offer guidance in terms of audio, visual, lighting and recording procedures on site.
What is some background information on the client and the field they work in?
Siber X is a roaming, customized platform for training, events and skills development in the cyber security realm. They utilize industry leading certifications to train and test professionals. SiberX accomplishes this with a team of multi-disciplinary experts that run live simulations and war games to recreate threats and responses faced across industries. Ultimately they develop online defense strategies.
How large was the audience?
There was close to 1000 people in attendance at the conference and another 200 at the expo. Additionally SiberX hosted outdoor activations with about 250 patrons.
What was the client’s intent from this show?
Introduce new cyber technologies, protection software, and a general exchange of ideas on current security trends. They also wanted to establish a long term relationship with an audio visual company that Siber X can use for future events, globally!
How did you come up with recommendations for the services they need?
Pure AV wanted to grasp the vision of the co-founders and understand the expectations from a AV company – how much/little involvement we should have in the pre-production process. Given that SiberX already employs a couple of event personnel, our project manger worked closely with them. Interaction was via email, text and conference calls. Open lines of communication help ensure that both sides are on the same page. Moreover, we were told about all needed/necessary technical aspects; while recommending other gear and technologies to help our client achieve the final goal of hosting a smooth running and entertaining conference.
Quick summary of how you put together the show at the venue/space given.
With previous experience inside the presentation venues (LVCC & Mandalay Bay) Pure AV had great knowledge of the space and had an easy time recommending the best possible AV equipment for the rooms. We also worked closely with the in-house provider to ensure the client would not be billed for any unnecessary products or services.
Did you run into any complications/ how did you solve them?
Rendering different format videos produced on different machines (MAC/PC) for every keynote speakers was certainly a challenge. Especially because a few of them were developed in 4:3, not 16:9 (which was requested by event organizers). No big deal – our team helped the presenters and made all necessary adjustments on site. These steps were necessary to ensure we matched the content to the correct LED wall specifications. Moreover, lots of content came in last minute. Pure AV staff quickly re-rendered on-site to ensure that all the content was spot on!
Was the audience engaged/ how did they interact?
Music, lighting and special FX grabbed the audience’s attention and created a positive and engaged conference atmosphere. A curved LED video wall behind the speakers was a great addition for graphics and titles while side screens played slides and presentations. Worked out perfectly and everyone in attendance could see all aspects of the presentation.
